Growing up in Tremé, a neighborhood alive with brass-band rhythms and second-line parades, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews dreamed of creating music. When he found a discarded trombone, he taught himself to play. Nicknamed “Trombone Shorty,” he joined his brother’s band and soon became a local sensation. A famous musician invited him on stage—setting him on the path to international stardom.
