About The Story

The world is full of shapes and angles. In this fun story set in Goa, on the western coast of India two siblings, Savio and Fatima find lots of right angles and a few others on the beach close to their home. Identifying shapes around them can set children on an exciting journey of not only seeing the connections between objects, but also be able to appreciate artistic works and create artworks themselves.

3. Beach Scene Drawing: Ask students to draw a beach and include objects showing right angles and triangles (e.g., a beach umbrella, a folded towel, waves).

Comments

We read it to our Grade 1 a few weeks before and they had so much fun listening to it. The concept of right angles was also very new to them. While reading the story they started finding out the different things in their classroom that makes a right angle like the corner of the wall with a desk and how their bottle at the edge of the desk creates a right angle. They also giggled and asked why the right angle is always right and there is no wrong angle.
The activity at the end of the story where they had to spot the right angles were so engaging and we did it as a whole class. Thank you for such a wonderful story.
